Hi New Friends!
I’m Hannah, a quilter and artist living in Lexington, Kentucky. I started sewing at a young age and discovered a love of quilting in 2017. Since then I’ve created many quilts for friends and family, making sure to make some for myself as well. Recently, I’ve been exploring what else I can create with this medium and am looking forward to more experimentation!
I was so lucky to contribute to Rita’s Quilt in 2019. I embroidered the Kentucky hexagon, featuring a cardinal with female coloring and goldenrod using thread I dyed with Kentucky-grown plants. I am so proud of being a Kentucky quilter and to get to represent my state in such a special project. For my work on Rita’s Quilt, I was interviewed by BBC, NPR, Atlas Obscura, and The Kelly Clarkson Show.
In May 2021, I was selected to be an inaugural Civic Artist in Residence for the City of Lexington, Kentucky working alongside CivicLex and the Lexington-Fayette County Government’s Finance Department. My goal in this position is to creatively communicate information about our local government to the public through craft, excitement, and nostalgia.
